Wondering how to better motivate, manage & engage your students?

This course will deliver immediate results!

As a teacher, Mike is fully aware of the pressure that teachers are facing.  We are being asked to:

  • Teach more with fewer resources
  • Manage students who seem to be increasingly hard to motivate
  • Engage students whilst using old teaching methods and technology

No wonder more teachers are taking extended sick leave, retiring early, or changing careers within the first five years of graduating.

What’s the answer?

In mid February 2012, the Grattan Institute released their report on the state of the education system in Australia.

Amongst a range of suggestions, the authors stressed the need for targeted professional development and an increased opportunity for teachers to collaborate.

This series of online training aims to equip teachers with the tools necessary to increase the motivation and engagement of their students whilst simultaneously building their network of teachers with whom they can collaborate and share resources.

“I have been teaching for four years, and this was the best Professional Development course I have completed…even the students said to me “you should do these things more often”
Ailie Granger - Griffith High School

Why Teachers Training?
  • 100% of all teachers who have attended these courses say they would recommend them to other teachers!
  • Mike is a Google Certified Teacher who has experience in a broad range of teaching environments.  He will give examples that have been tested in the classroom.
  • As a teacher Mike knows how infuriating it is to sit through professional development that is neither engaging nor useful in today’s teaching environment.  Our motto reflects our commitment…”Providing professional development in a way that is ENJOYED not endured!’
  • Mike has helped thousands of teachers.  Over 30 000 teachers from 157 countries have been helped by Teachers Training either via face to face or online.
  • More than 100 schools benefited from Mike’s live training in 2011.  When surveyed by an independent teaching accreditation organisation, teachers gave the training a rating of 4.5 out of 5 (an outstanding result compared to how most professional development programs are rated!) with 91% of teachers reporting that they had put the training into practice in their classroom.
There are two courses to choose from:

How to Motivate, Manage & Engage Your Students

This course takes a look at some fascinating research on what motivates and engages students.

This course is not just theory! You will get a proven system, developed in the classroom and used by thousands of teachers around the world.

As a part of the course, teachers are given time to develop an individual action plan to change their class culture resulting in students who are more motivated and engaged.

How to Use Technology to Engage Your Students

This course builds on the foundational principles learned in the ‘How to Motivate, Manage & Engage Your Students’ course.

This course takes teachers step by step through a range of free online programs that always leave the participants saying ‘Wow, I had no idea you could do that’.

By the end of this course you will be quickly and easily:

  • Making video presentations
  • Creating self grading assessments
  • Teaching your students how to collaborate on projects in real time
  • Conducting a Google search that is relevant to the reading level of your students
  • AND MUCH MORE!

What you get with this online training:

Four one and a half hour sessions per course

Each session has been designed to be long enough to for you to grasp and apply the concepts without feeling rushed but also short enough so as not to use up too much of your precious time.

An understanding of 5 principles of motivation and how to apply them both personally and professionally

During these sessions we will look at some fascinating research that challenges our ideas of what motivates people. You will find yourself applying these principles both in your personal and professional life!

A dynamic and engaging presentation

Mike is a Google Certified Teacher with over 10 years experience in a range of teaching environments.  The principles learned in these courses have all been developed in the classroom with REAL students not derived from a textbook.

A comprehensive step by step plan

As a teacher you don’t need more strategies. You need a comprehensive plan that will enable you to dramatically decrease your classroom management problems and radically increase your students engagement and motivation

A 29 page manual (Motivation Course) & a Collaborative document with every teachers best ideas (Technology Course)

This manual has been designed to be a resource that you use time and again, not sit on your bookshelf gathering dust.

The opportunity to implement the ideas in your class between sessions

Rather than just attending a whole day of training then being left alone to implement your ideas, you can try out your ideas and strategies and then attend a 30 minute Q&A session before the start of the next class to ask any questions and share ideas with other teachers.

The opportunity to collaborate with teachers from around the globe

One of the greatest aspects of our training is the opportunity teachers have to build their professional learning networks. We love seeing teachers connect; but love it even more when classes start to collaborate on projects as a result of the relationships teachers have built!

A certificate of attendance

Many education departments require their teachers to undergo continuing professional development. We can work with your accrediting body to ensure that your hours contribute to your ongoing professional development. For teachers in NSW, both courses are accredited with the NSWIT.

Why Online Training?

We have worked hard not to lose any of the benefits of a live event. In fact we think there are added advantages:

  • Your school can save several hundred dollars on casual relief
  • You have time to process and try out your strategies in your class and then come back the following week to discuss any problems and share your successes!
  • You have more time to build your professional learning network.  We have some strategic ideas that will help bring teachers together in a non threatening way
  • There is no need for you to travel.  It is quite common for teachers to have to catch flights or drive for 8 or more hours to attend our events.  Most teachers do this at their own expense. Online training eliminates this extra burden.
What other teachers have said about these courses…
“OMG!!! What a change!  This class has a lot of students in it, and I find the room very small for all the different personalities.  But after I set the picture, the students were working with me instead of against me.”
Vicki Nation; Chair Mathematics Faculty - Billanook College
“Finally a presenter that knows how to present! I loved the course and can’t wait to do the next one…I would recommend Mike to any teacher regardless of their position and teaching tenure!”
Kim Naylor - St Mary's Catholic Primary School
“I just wanted to say an extra big thank you for providing such a great service.  Online, at night and in the comfort of home – with my two young children asleep in the other room – pretty awesome actually.  It was very engaging and entertaining.”
Leda McFadzean
“I was impressed that Mike is a current teacher & could relate things to his classroom practice”
Kim Rose; Assistant Principal Tullimbar Public
“Where was this kind of training when I did my Bachelor of teaching???”
Ken Sullivan; Sunning Hill School (juvenile correctional centre)
“I like the nuts and bolts approach to this course…so many practical applications that I can implement immediately in the classroom.  The individual action plan is a great idea.”
“Just replayed last week’s session and enjoyed it just as much second time around. This is a great facility!”
“Thank you Mike! I really found the 4 week course on ‘How to Motivate, Manage & Engage Your Students’ really interesting and great food for thought on how to improve my class routines and student engagement.  I look forward to the next sessions with the technology course.”
Kiki Tsoli; Bankstown Senior College

Hi Mike – Just a quick question relating to the technology in the classroom course that you offer – would it be appropriate for teachers who are teaching K-2 in a primary school or is it more geared for older students. Do you have a more detailed overview of what that course does offer that you could possible send me ? Thanks

Hi just wondering how the online course operates? Do you have to watch it live or can you complete it at your own convenience and start it at any time?
    Thanks
    Helen

      Hi Helen

You can engage with the course either way. Most people join each session as it is happening live as they can benefit from being able to ask questions and share ideas. There are a few people who miss the odd session due to other commitments, and a few who just watch when they can.

      Its totally up to you.

If you have any other questions just let me know

      Mike

    Hi Mike,
Am keen to do both courses online but noticed that first one is already 3 weeks in. Is there a plan to redo at a later date this year?
    Mandy

      Hi Mandy
The motivation course finishes next week and the technology course runs until the middle of December.
Both courses will run again at the beginning of next year, probably starting mid February. You could still participate in the technology course this year and participate in the motivation course next year if you like. I’ll send you an email with the details.
